Founded in 1970, the California High School Rodeo Association (CHSRA) is an independent, non-profit student athletic association, dedicated to building sportsmanship, horsemanship and character in our youth. It was created to give junior high school and high school students with a 2.0 and above grade point average the opportunity to participate and compete in this unique and challenging sport.
CHSRA are members of the National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) and operate according to the NHSRA rulebook. There are 2 grade divisions with approximately 900 members in nine California districts. Each district holds eight to ten rodeos throughout the school year. Contestants accumulate points for placing first thru tenth, the top five district competitors in each event qualify to go to the CHSRA State Finals rodeo held in May (Junior Highschool Division) & June ( High School Division). The top four winners in each event at the State Finals qualify to compete at the Junior High School National Finals Rodeo in June & High School National Finals Rodeo in July.

Mid State Classic
District 7 hosts one multi-district rodeo per year. This is held in Paso Robles and is for high-school members only. This is a sanctioned rodeo (points count for your district) for districts 4, 9 and 7 for ALL EVENTS, however any member of NHSRA is invited to compete for jackpot money and prizes.
Each D7 member, regardless of their division is responsible for selling raffle tickets for our annual fundraiser. These tickets are due by Mid State Classic to remain in good standing. Also required by each D7 member is a donation to our silent auction held during the weekend of Mid State Classic. All donation items must be brought to the Paso Robles Fairgrounds and must be a minimum value of $50. D7 also collects toys for our annual Toy Drive, all districts are invited to participate.

District Vest Info
Each district is recognized by a color, The Magnificent 7's color is purple!
WHO NEEDS A VEST:
Vests are to be worn at State Competitions; Challenge of Champions, Jr High State Finals, and High School State Finals
Student Event Directors wear their district vest during their event
District vests must have the district color on the visible side, some members elect to be creative and use a print for the lining. The district logo is generally embroidered on the vest as is the member's name. Some choose to also have various accomplishments (i.e. district titles, state titles, national qualifications/titles) also embroidered on their vest. A few members have even chosen to have a vest made out of leather. No matter your preference, if a member will be competing at Challenge of Champions (March), Jr High Finals (May), or High School Finals (June), vests are mandatory attire and contestants will not be allowed to check in nor compete without their vest.
Please plan ahead as it does take time to have the vest made and at least a couple weeks
for the embroidery to be scheduled.
VESTS ARE THE MEMBER'S RESPONSIBILITY
The district does NOT provide the vests. Please plan accordingly!
